g Extreme Pollution

(updated 3 months ago)

I have a bas that says it's only producing 50 pollution/sec, with 300 being absorbed by land, yet my pollution cloud is growing, not shrinking. This wasn't an issue previously - the pollution just got REALLY aggressive all of sudden after last update.

The general idea is that pollution is generated by all electric machines and generators should generate pollution.

In last update I managed to add pollution for accumulators , fusion generators and solars.

Solars snd accumulators don't work like rest of machines in code, so it was tricky to make them work. I already got report that they don't show upproperly in pollution tab, and try to do something about it.

Ah, that would explain it. Thank you.

Does landfill affect EM pollution? I would think it should, since sand does.

It does not
just like it does not absorb anything in base game

Alrighty, thanks for response.

Np. Increased pollution absorbtion by water a bit, to make it less agresive.

I'm having this problem as well, I've torn up all solar panels and accumulators so and my EM/min is <5 while tile absorption is ~60/min in the production stats but my pollution cloud is still expanding.

Is there anything else that needed the solar panel work-around to generate pollution that wouldn't show up in the productions stats? Inserters aren't listing an EM value despite using electricity but are they supposed to?

I'm converting a factory from a (significantly) older version so I'm still in the process of replacing all the inserters and other infrastructure but I'm not sure what to prioritize to fix pollution.

Thank you for your help.

  • Inserters are usually not an issue. In most cases it's big drills, fields of solars and accumulators build carelessly. Worst thing you could place on pelagos are fusion reactors/generators and nuclear reactors
  • Modded heating towers could also generate a lot because they are reactor in code and by default reactor generate a lot of pollution. Regular heating tower is whitelisted..
  • If you have muluna installed then this wierd condenser turbines are also an issue because they are fusion generator in code
  • place power generator setups in island center to give land more chance to absorb polution.
  • it would be probably best to hop on discord so you could show me your base. (link in my profile)
  • if you need reference. My current base has 5 steam turbines and that's whole electrical energy setup so far. I need it mostly for robo network and beacons

Thank you for the response, the 4th point is really interesting and makes a lot of sense that putting it in the center of land would help. I'll definitely try to keep that in mind for the future.

I ended up using the console to clear pollution and it's spreading at a reasonable pace now, I think I had just such a massive backlog of pollution built up from when I was cleaning up the factory (I had a prod module'd EM plant running for a few minutes at one point) that it just wasn't being absorbed fast enough to make the negative pollution visible even with literally nothing running electricity for an hour.

Thank you for the breakdown and advice, much appreciated.

Does pollution decrease again after removing building that were creating pollution?

yeah but it takes some time. Pollution absorbtion is generally low
