Industrial Revolution 3 Patchset for 2.0 (Unofficial, ALPHA)

by Shemp

Deadlock989's classic overhaul with a unique art-style and age-based progression. This is a command-line script which installs additional code and patches into the original mod files, as well as the add-ons, to make them compatible with Factorio 2.0. Requires manual assembly.

g Thank You

Just wanted to say thank you for updating IR3! It is easily my favorite mod from 1.1 and I was disappointed to hear that it would not be updated to 2.0. The patching directions worked perfectly for me and so far everything is working in game. Thanks again!

You're welcome! I was looking for a project to attempt porting to 2.0, and the consensus seems to be that Deadlock989 has left the community indefinitely, which is why I chose this one. Although, knowing my luck, Deadlock is probably going to re-appear next week with Industrial Revolution 4 fully integrated with Space Age.

I had considered just playing IR3 on 1.1, but I can't imagine playing a big overhaul like this without Factoriopedia.

EDIT: I am very interested in looking at a proper IR3 save game, preferably the 1.1 version. It doesn't need to be completed, just a fairly busy base that will have lots of bugs in it for me to fix.

Here's my 1.1 save. It does rely on the Train Control Signals mod, so the trains might break when updating to 2.0. I also never got into the molten metals since those are post rocket.

I've always followed deadlock, even ko-fi where he had very interesting projects in development.... :( let's say that I consider him a true artist-genius. Don't worry, Shemp, when leaving the community, openly declared that he no longer had any interest in factorio and anyway you had fun :D

It should be a pretty complete save with molten metal and transmath but it's heavily modded, with old mods and some modified by me, I hope it's useful to you :D

Thank you for this, I also supported deadlock on ko-fi.
By the way, does anyone have any of the windmill teaser images that where on ko-fi? the pre-electricity power generation images.

Itd be certainly funny thats for sure

Thanks for sharing those, I've already found one bug that I didn't expect to find (with Larger Lamps).

How did you all find the installation process, by the way? It's a big necessary gate in front of the mod, so I'd like to know if any part of it was unclear or confusing to you.

It was a bit challenging for me, I didn't know anything about the programs and procedures required but your guide is very intuitive, it took me about 30 minutes, and I was also very motivated :D The thing I struggled with the most was understanding that zip was a wsl variant and not a windows app

Guess who just spent hours making his own fork of Deadlock's Larger Lamps because he wasn't satisfied with some of the unresolved bugs in "Larger Lamps 2.0"? Then LL2.0 updated mere moments ago after months, and I've had to reverse all the changes I made today. Oh well, it's good to have as a backup.

Anyway, here's version 0.3.0 and a life-lesson for everybody: Assumptions can either help or hinder you.

Personally i had no issues with the installation process (on win10), just had to install git bash and it worked first try

maybe your version is better!

No no, it's literally just a drop-in identical replacement. :)

I try to be very cognisant of the other mods on the portal and whether they serve the same purpose, before I go writing my own, that way we're not confusing users by having many mods that do the same thing. And it saves me work in the long run.

Likewise, I'm quite grateful for Supershadow30 maintaining Black Rubber Belts so I don't need to worry about it.

Just found this after starting a new playtrough in 1.1. Copied the save after just reasearching iron and it works perfectly so far.

Only nitpick i have so far is the recipes of the new stuff could be more in line with the IR3 recipes. Making the elevated rails take steel beams and rods rather than plates for example. Or the selector combinator having a recipe like the other combinators, swapping the green circuits with red circuits, rather than adding red circuits to a decider combinator.

The recipe for the mech armor when using the mech armor mod for example is great.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad to hear that copying the world from 1.1 worked okay; even though I don't officially support doing that, I have tried to account for it somewhat.

Elevated Rails, selector combinators and display panels will have new recipes and technology costs in the next version.

Well, i just had reached iron, i'll bite the bullet and start again just in case.
