b [Fixed] Underground pipes dont connect

If i build the normal pipe first and then try to connect a underground pipe they will not autoconnect, however if i build the underground pipe first it works fine

it doesnt affect machines or inserters though which is strange

I can't reproduce this. Could you tell me exactly what kind of pipe it is, and whether the underground pipe is short or long?

the copper steam pipe and its the long underground

Are you using any mods that aren't supported by the Patchset? Because if you're not, I'm all out of ideas.

im not using any im pretty sure but ive seen the same issue in the main menu animation with normal pipes

I've also encountered the same problem with both Steam and Copper pipes. Sometimes I find pipes connected to the save game disconnected when loading. As lasagna11 says, even in the opening menu I see pipes disconnected. If you need any details to help you find the problem, please ask.

I had the same problem so I decided to test and see what might be causing it. When playing just the IR3 mods no problem whatsoever. Afterward I loaded up my slightly moded game I'm playing and looking at the mods affecting the pipes I noticed that the mod squeak through 2 was not working on the underground pipes.

In conclusion the mod Squeak Through 2 is not being applied to the one way valve, underground pipe , and the short underground pipe.

Yes, I use it too :P It's just that how can you live without it :D

That's good to hear, I'll investigate this shortly. And if I can't fix it, I have a guaranteed fix that you're all guaranteed to hate. :P

I don't tend to use Squeak Through; designing layouts that you can walk through easily, or putting concrete roads through the middle of your main bus, is one of the puzzles that you need to solve in Factorio. So installing the mod is kind of like turning off biters: completely valid, but you're removing some gameplay in a sense.

Instead I'm more partial to the new Mech Armor. I know IR3 already has some flying vehicles, but I'm quite tempted to add compatibility and a recipe for this mod. Any suggestions for the recipe?

You're right about the gameplay, but have you noticed how many recipes IR3 has? Did you notice that the first part is entirely pipe-powered and the last is developed on gases and fluids that heat up and cool down? Let's say that the original gameplay is hard to adapt to this mod. As for the recipe, I don't remember anything. As soon as I get to the advanced part of the game, I can suggest something to my taste. However, I fully approve of the idea. I'm currently using the Jump mod.

I think I have this issue fixed for the next build, but I'm not sure about valves.

Here's my draft for Mech Armor:

Technology depends on Cosmic analysis + Power armor Mk2. Costs 3000 Cosmic analysis packs + Explosives analysis.

Recipe:

  • 5x Revolutionary computer
  • 2x Large chromed frame
  • 3x Gyroscope
  • 50x Electrum sheet
  • 50x Hull section

I wonder if there's an intermediate which resembles a jet thruster. Because y'know..

Perhaps

5x Revolutionary computer
2x Small chromed frame
3x Gyroscope
5 Advanced Engine
50x Electrum sheet
25x Hull section

Hull section It's really heavy to build :P

jet thruster nothing unfortunately

Draft #2:

  • 5x Revolutionary computer
  • 8x High-octane fuel canister
  • 3x Gyroscope
  • 5x Advanced engine unit
  • 20x Field-effect nano-mesh
  • 25x Hull section

Nano-meshes aren't used for much else and they seem sufficiently high-tech. The fuel canisters are magic ones that don't ever run out, we don't talk about them.

:D Shemp in IR3 there are rechargeable hydrogen cells, wouldn't you be able to make it the only fuel for the armor? What do you think? Just to try to make it unique .If not, we'll build him an ARC reactor :D

I don't know if there's a way to make the armor itself be fuelled, and I think people will be expecting the flight to be free. Plus, a lot of equipment modules still need fuel.

The builds have been coming out a bit faster than I would normally like, especially since updating isn't super-easy for you all, but I want to get this pipes bug sorted out once and for all. Hopefully 0.3.1 fixes it.
