Right now it only checks that the planet is present when the platform status changes. However, you could also detect when the previous status->current status transition indicates it didn't stop at the planet, and use that have the planet you just passed whizz by. I think it would add a nice bit of immersion when you are travelling more than 1 planet away.

This should be possible without any major changes, but unfortunately I don't have the spare time to work on new features for this mod currently. It's a nice idea though, and if I'm able to find time around Christmas break I'll definitely look into it.

Honestly I'm kind of crossing my fingers that the future 2.1 update of Factorio will be able to retire this mod, as there are a multiple small issues that I either can't or don't know how to fix. Because of that, I'm avoiding adding too many features to this mod until 2.1 drops. (Potentially doing a small code refactor if the mod is still alive after 2.1)

I had a brief look at this today, and it isn't as simple as I'd like due to how I've implemented planet animations. It would require a moderate code refactor to allow planets to "grow" when the platform is not currently at the location; currently if I render the planet on flyby it is either permanently rendered or immediately shrunk and deleted before being seen as the events for arriving and leaving are used to control both growing and shrinking. On flyby, these events would trigger on the same tick, meaning no animation duration.

This is solvable, but not as easily as I would have liked. I'll come back to this after 2.1 if the update doesn't make this mod redundant.
