I am very confused as to why the devs never did such HD upgrade. And no, i don't care that some people can't run the HD as a Reason when there are already settings to reduce visual for weaker pcs. Meaning that they already have in settings and everything to enable or disable extra visual elements, with each their own options to reduce FPS impact.
Or do they not realise more people would play factorio if there are not pixels around?
