g Better sand/glass usage

There doesn't appear to be a really reliable mass-sink for sand or glass. Most of the things which use glass aren't crafting in huge qualities (ie like iron/copper/steel plates are) and I've found myself just storing sand in chests then blowing the chests up when it gets full. Maybe landfill or concrete as a sink for consuming excessive sand?

Disabling the "sand & glass" setting doesn't fully get rid of sand while it does get rid of glass

Hiya! Concrete mix already exists which is the current intended sink for sand :) I may also add a landfill recipe that uses sand as well since it can still be an issue, but I'm still undecided on that

If you add that recipe then it has to be called "sandfill."

I honestly had started on it, but was too ambitious and wanted to make a whole new sandfill tile lol

bumping this thread, as I was also coming to ask for a glass sink. I was thinking that it would be really nice to have a research along the lines of "Glass Insulators" that provided alternate recipes for things that use electric cables/ electricity. Even if it used alot of glass the savings in other ingredients would make it an interesting part of the game.

I think either a sand or glass sink would be good to have. Maybe a basic recycler at least that you can get before Fulgora?

Running this mod now and completely agree. There's no way to dispose of sand/glass/concrete mix without recycling. I currently basically have a huge buffer of concrete mix that I have to clear manually every so often, since my base is already covered in concrete

I use that: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/offshore-dump, works great.

it might be a bit cheaty, but I restrict myself to only using it in cases I approve as "not cheaty". :-)

Edit: it's for fluids, but on second glance, it also adds a grinder machine where you can crush almost anything to junk, then dissolve junk in water to get a "waste" fluid, which goes through the offshore dump into the ocean... problem... kinda "solved"... :-)

The latest update 0.5.0 adds Optical fiber which is a new intermediate that's indirectly used in science production, and should resolve this issue. Open to feedback!
