Space Age Unofficial Changes
This Unofficial Change of Space Age improves the flow of the game and adds new mechanics to enhance progression and enjoyment while still keeping the challenge around.
1. New Dehydrating, Rehydrating, Freezing and Thawing Mechanics
Certain items can now be dehydrated or frozen to remove spoilage timers.
- Nutrients Do Not Spoil
Dehydration System
- Process: Put certain spoilable items into a furnace (dehydration takes time)
- Benefit: Removes spoilage timer
- Rehydration: Dehydrated items must be rehydrated in a Chemical Plant or Biochamber with a recipe to be used normaly.
- Upscaling: Enables Gleba optimization for science and materials without recyclers

Usage: Agricultural Science → Furnace (with or without Quality Mods) → Chemical Plant or Biochamber (with or without Quality Mods) → Furnace (with or without Quality Mods), etc.

Note 1: Tie the dehydration with how you make spoilage items so that a dehydrated item gets to lets say zero or below a certain number you can start farming again with agricultural towers and or processing back into what you want to meet what you want, without having to have potential build up of spoilage on belts because it all stopped because the machines dumped a little too much spoilage mixed in with items you cant burn like bioflux. This game play severely limits high throughput because you always at every turn have to make sure you don't make too much or too little to meet demand. This forces the player to only produce how much the developer wants not what the player wants. Think of it as on demand dehydration then later on demand rehydration to use. In the base game you would have to setup on demand spoilage to nutrients or burning which was beyond annoying to deal with and some could even say its antithetical to factorio's gameplay since space age came out. With this new dehydration and freezing you can store alot of items, you do need down the production chain while eliminating the stoppage of gleba production just by having more dehydrated or frozen items above the amount you are actually using.

Note 2: Be careful of limiting the input per machine so that you can easily deal with the 1or2 spoilage that comes out by burning it or making nutrients from them when it all stops then restarts, before they get sent on there way.

8. Barrel Stack Sizes Increased

9. Nutrients Do Not Spoil
- Nutrients no longer have a spoilage timer
10. Changed ice platform crafting time
- Ice platforms now take 1 second to craft instead of 30 seconds
11. Changed silo module slot count
- Silos now have 10 module slots instead of 4
12. Changed speed quality penalty
- Quality no longer gets penalized for speeding up crafting with speed modules
13. Beacon quality now gives bigger radius depending on quality type
- Beacon radius +1 for Uncommon beacon
- Beacon radius +2 for Rare beacon
- Beacon radius +3 for Epic beacon
- Beacon radius +4 for Legendary beacon
